With a little help from my friends
In an effort to boost production, my friend Sidney came up with the genius idea of a bracelet making party. (it turned into more of a drinking prosecco & listening to pandora situation.. which led to more drinking & ended in a dumpling house in chinatown)
While it didn’t exactly create a boom of surplus (zero), a few people used runway for inspiration. Sid decided on a Balenciaga look from spring ’10 & after taking his very professionally knotted string home, I carried out his vision accordingly:

Proenza Schouler’s S/S 2010 show spoke to me. It took me back to the time I dreamt of hanging out at the Peach Pit & crushing those dirtbags from Valley (I know- different show). Essentially, it reminded me of how cool California life would be. or could be. Then the harsh reality of graphic tees & terry cloth tube dresses hit me. & New York won.

“Ding dong, I made a new bracelet. whaaat?” Sorry, that SNL doorbell skit is taking over my life.
Moving on- thanks to the girls at “Fun 2 Bead” here in the garment district I was able to create something with ends that look a bit more polished- no more exposed knots! dads are growing up.
